Children’s Mercy

Derek and Meagan have had family members who have received care at Children’s Mercy and are passionate about supporting the Hospital. Derek’s wife Meagan has been on the Hands and Hearts Board of Directors for Children’s Mercy’s Annual Red Hot Night Gala for the past 5 years and she will serve as the event’s Co-Chair in 2023.

Wayside Waifs

Wayside Waifs is a no kill animal shelter and is near and dear to Derek and his wife Meagan’s hearts. They have adopted 2 dogs from Wayside. Meagan adopted Bizie (dec. 2021) during Wayside’s Strutt with your Mutt 5k and Derek and Meagan adopted Mitchell in 2013 to grow their furry family! Each year, Derek and Meagan support Wayside through their Annual Fur Ball Gala and Strutt with your Mutt.

The White Theater at JCC

The White Theatre at The Jewish Community Center, located in Overland Park, Kansas, is a professional-quality, non-profit theatre company, presenting the finest educational and entertainment opportunities in the region. 

Derek is a loyal supporter of The White Theater at the Jewish Community Center. He contributes annually to help the theater sustain its mission to bring high-quality productions to the community. Derek and Meagan enjoy attending shows to support The White Theater and to cheer on the local arts scene. He is proud to support the hard work his mentor has put into making The White Theater a community treasure.

American Foundation For Suicide Prevention

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is dedicated to providing support and resources to those affected by suicide. Specifically they offer suicide support lines, therapy, and mental health resources for those struggling with suicidal thoughts and tendencies.

As a firm, we support AFSP as we are aware that statistically nearly everyone has been affected by suicide, whether directly or tangentially. We’ve supported multiple events in the past four years and will continue our support for years to come.

Big Brothers Big Sisters

Big Brothers Big Sisters mission is to create and support one-to-one mentor relationships that help youth reach their full potential. They aim to provide children with positive role models and guidance through friendship, emotional support, and activities. By partnering adults (Bigs) with youth (Littles) in the program they foster opportunities for life long mentorship’s.

Kale serves as a Big in the BBBS program and is an avid supporter of the work they do.
